On the Road Again...

Our normal Monday Night Ride this week was going to be a road ride. Yipee, not really. In an earlier post, I revealed that I have only done 10 miles total on my road bike for 2007; not including indoor training over the winter on a trainer... as if there really was much of that either.

My legs were still a bit sore but I was hoping for an easy spinning session to help blow out the garbage residing in my legs. It was tough at the beginning, I wanted to turn back at mile 10 and I received the hill climbs when it was my turn up front... double yipee, not really. By the time we reached the farthest point in the ride 19 miles into it, I was feeling alright. I got a little cold after the break but warmed up quickly. Again, my time up front came around and I laid in a nice 22MPH or so pace on some flat to slight incline roads. I was feeling much better. By the end of the ride, a couple of the guys began to sprint to the finish. I hesitated but eventually chased them and caught up. I'm sure I looked like a flailing fool from behind since I pump my bike side-to-side in sprints to tap arm strength, much like the ol' BMX days. I passed then braked since I didn't know where to turn next. Ah well.

Packing up, my legs felt drained. But it was the good kind of drained.

Today, my legs feel a lot better, but no where near 100%. Heck, not even 75%. I'll need to pop a naproxin sodium tablet when I get home to take the edge off. No, that isn't an EPO blood-doping drug. It is Alieve... the all day pain med. Mine is a store brand generic.
