Spring Thaw

Up in these parts it is the time of the year known as the "Spring Thaw" when all of the area trails will be in trasition from the Winter to the 2007 riding season. What is happening is that the ground has not yet regained the capability to absorb and drain water very well. This is because under the surface, the ground is still frozen. Also, the melting snow oversaturates and floods areas until the ground can absorb them. Riding in these conditions creates ruts that may scar the trail all season. The recommendation is to not ride trails during this time and wait the few weeks as the ground thaws. This little inconvenience will help the trial be in better condition over the long term. Your trails and fellow riders will thank you.

But when is it alright to ride? It is when you see the worms emerge from the ground! Please be patient and keep on riding!
