Product Review - Dakine Highwire

I really needed to replace my full-fingered gloves. Sometime back in the day, I wore some Pearl Izumis that were good and then replaced them with another pair of PI that were... ahem, not so good. So I decided it was time for a fresh pair and a fresh brand to try.

I took a gamble and tried a brand that I really didn't know. So, I picked up a pair of Dakine Highwires. At first they didn't quite look up to snuff as they looked so delicate, like a nice shirt or something you'd wear to work. Sliding them onto my hands though... Wow! They fit like... like... um, a glove! Actually since those first few PI from a decade ago, these are the first to feel this comfy. None of the seams were digging into te side of my hands but the fit is snug and comfortable. I whipped onto a bike and gave them a good rough housing and they seem to hold up just fine. The padding is minimal but put all in the right places. Just to let you know, I didn't do a crash test to see if the padding is adequete for that. If I did, I suppose I could do a helmet review as well :/. Anyway, the gloves are a little heavier than I had expected but they will be perfect for the Spring thaw and be ressurected again for the Fall.

Conclusion - Great cool-weather glove for XC MTB or even on the road. Great styling and fit. Quality materials. Don't get it if you're big into the established brands. 4 color combinations. Cost - $17.50 from JensonUSA.
