Edward's Creek - Fueling the Fire PT3

Well, I went and did Edward's Creek tonight. One lap by myself and a second with the group. I feel I did fairly well on the trail. Felt great and seemed to be moving without much strain at all. What I also did was follow what I consumed up to and during the ride. And I'm glad I did, because I think I have the beginnings of my fueling regimen. A few hours before I went to ride I ate a grilled cheese, a PB&J and a few cheese curls. A weird little combo, but then again, the last time I felt really good going out, I had a bologna with Miracle Whip on wheat sandwich. Go figure. About 30 minutes before hitting the trail I sucked down a Gu Gel and chased it with a few sips of Gatorade... it was blue. When I went, I consumed Lemon flavored HEED from Hammer Nutrition. I was pleasantly surprised by the taste. It really didn't taste like lemon, but more like a creamcicle. Much better than the e-Load, taste-wise. And subtle compared to Gatorade. Though at the beginning, it did taste a little watery, it grew on me during the ride. It is all I consumed the entire ride until we were done. I then sipped a little Gatorade on the way home. And now, I am sucking down a Linnie Summer Shandy. That's a beer.

Also a good mention is that I rode my Bontrager Race. I still love the way this bike rides and handles. I was happy with the tires since last time. I let a bit of air out of the back ant it seemed to track much better than before. The fronts I run quite a bit harder for quick response on the hardpack. Times? Both loops, I did the advanced route and alone, turned in a flat 45 minutes and with the group, I posted a 46:45. A little slower, but I did not lead the entire time.

I'm very stoked after this ride! I hope I can make this Saturday's ride up at Big M. Planned is a 50 mile ride with lunch put in there at some point.
