Just kidding, most of them liked the bike but commented on me showing up on a different bike each week... I gotta share the love! Though my road bike is a little neglected but I should remedy that starting next week.
Back to the singlespeed, it's covered in Bass River dust as the conditions around these parts has been quite dry. The most notable thing about this ride is that I can keep up with most of the other guys for the most part. I seem to be spinning like a mad man on the flat stretches and on the fire road and I could have used a bigger front ring and would have been fine. I do predict that when I finally get the nerve to take the SS to Cannonsburg SGA, the Ski Area and to Yankee Springs I may find my 34-16 gearing a bit tall for some of the climbs. But that is only my own fear rearing its ugly little head. But nothing at Bass has anything that would really prevent me from taking on any obsticle (even those log piles... gotta hit the log piles, people!!) with exception to the climbs at the gravel pit. I did do one of the big decents and several short, steep climbs. But none of the really big climbs. But then again, neither did any of the other guys.
Time for some strength training and long road hills to flatten the terrain....
