Yup. Got the confirmation today. I will be running the 5K for the 5/3 this year. Actually, this will be my first 5/3... and the start is less than 3 miles from my place.
The nice thing about this year is that it's "free" for me! My place of work decided to sponsor as many runners as would do it and form corporate teams. I get the feeling they want to win the corporate competition... though they won't admit it. All the bigguns just keep telling me to just have a good time. It doesn't matter how fast you go as long as you have fun! Well, last year, the company got second. And I know enough about the attitude of the company to know... they taste blood!!
All of the runners also received a "free" longsleeve technical shirt for the run. I actually hope the morning is going to be cool, say in the 40's, maybe low 50's to wear the shirt for the run. Anything more is a shortsleeve and anything less may be a shell. Its nice to get something with the company logo that isn't a cotton tee... I can actually use if while running without drowning in my own sweat!
Anyway, I have to be in a team photo with 40 or so other runners next week. And also make sure I can pull the 8:45 minute miles I promised. Actually, I've been turning on the afterburners during my runs to make sure I have something extra for the race. Hopefully it'll be enough to burn the time!
