The Sun'll Come Out, Tomorrow...

Well, well, well... It's just about time for the riding season to start up again and I'm already sharpening my stick! I've shed 10 of the desired 20 pounds by the time the Iceman comes rolling around again in 8 months. Talk of the Iceman already?! Well, for me it is the quintessential end to my riding season so it is when I need to be at my tip-top form. Not quite like last year where injury, other distractions and a bit too much 'umph' at the start caused me to blow up around mile 20 and lick my wounds all the way to the finish.

In a couple of weeks will be the running season opener for me, the Irish Jig. It is a 5K trotting around East Grand Rapids (the setting for the American Pie movies) and is fairly tame. This will be the 3rd time to run it. I did drive through the area this weekend and noted that the weather has decimated the pavement. Just something I need to keep in mind as I wind through the streets.

There is also a focus on the weekend of April 21st. It has become a highlight weekend as several of the guys I ride with regularly will be in North Carolina riding and climbing the local terrain. Fun, fun... that I will be missing. Also that weekend will be the Yankee Springs Time Trial. I have never done the race, but I believe my brother has in seasons past. That'll be a great opener for the MTB racing season around here. Also that weekend is a concealed weapons safety and licensing course up north of here. I only mention this because if I actually attend the course, I will bring up one of my MTBs (a rarity) and ride for the first time with my Father-in-Law who was the recipient of the 'Secret Project' bike. Great to introduce more people to the sport!

Well, that's it for now. There has been some progress on the SS Project, but not enough yet for a good post. The sun is blaring outside and gives me a henkerin' for some fresh trail. Mmm.
